iB Solutions Wins €600,000 Contract with Irish Medical Council

iB Solutions, an IBA Health Group company (ASX:IBA), has won a contract worth over €600,000 with the Medical Council of Ireland in Dublin to develop a system for the country's 17,000 doctors to register membership online. The deal includes capital spend and support for five years.

Based on the company's Integra suite of application software, the system will help the Medical Council to meet its requirements under Ireland's Medical Practitioners Bill 2007 with the objective of protecting and informing the public in its dealings with medical practitioners. The Bill introduced new measures for the registration and control of medical practitioners and has significantly changed the membership and functions of the Medical Council.

Replacing paper-based methods, the new database will allow applications to be entered online along with online payments and requests for a Certificate of Good Standing, which doctors need to continue practicing.

The iB Solutions web-enabled development will support registration, retention, register maintenance, and online payments processing. The system will also feature a 'my page' facility for individual doctors.

Jim McDermott, the Medical Council's head of IT, said: "iB Solutions has a highly experienced project team with a track record of delivering similar systems and an in-depth knowledge of the public sector. The company's partnership approach to the development was another important factor in its selection."

Eamonn Morris, managing director of iB Solutions, said: "iB Solutions has been providing off-the-shelf and custom software solutions for over 30 years. These solutions have enabled our customers to gain significant competitive advantage, streamline business process flows, increase efficiency and productivity and produces significant cost savings. We have developed a reputation for delivering our projects in partnership with our customers' on-time, within budget and to specification. This win highlights the importance of the services offered and underpins our reputation in the marketplace."
