Med-e-Tel 2010 - Annual, International Telemedicine and eHealth Forum

Med-e-TelThe 8th edition of Med-e-Tel, the International eHealth, Telemedicine and Health ICT Forum, will take place on 14-16 April 2010 at Luxexpo, the Luxembourg Exhibition and Congress Center.

Med-e-Tel, organized by the International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth (ISfTeH), is one of the premier events worldwide in the field of Telemedicine and eHealth and brings together every year participants from 50 countries around the world. The ISfTeH is the international federation of national Telemedicine/eHealth associations and is recognized as an NGO in Official Relations with the World Health Organization (WHO).

Med-e-Tel is endorsed by the Luxembourg Ministry of Health, the European Commission, the International Council of Nurses (ICN), the International Association for CyberPsychology, Training and Rehabilitation (iACToR), European Health Telematics Association (EHTEL) and works together with a wide range of local and international partners who are all involved in Telemedicine and eHealth research, development, funding or implementation.

Through its extensive conference program with over 200 presentations and through an industrial exhibition and networking area, Med-e-Tel presents and showcases practical experiences, ongoing projects and recent research results with a high added value for its international audience of healthcare providers, industry representatives, consultants, researchers and policy makers.

Next to the international focus and participation of several high level (Ministry of Health) delegations from countries in Africa, Asia and South America, Med-e-Tel also features a regional seminar aimed primarily at the Luxembourg and Belgian marketplace. The 2010 edition of this seminar focuses on "New Models of Care and New ICT Solutions" and is supported by global management consulting company Accenture and leading healthcare publication Healthcare Executive. The seminar presents actual cases and recognized experts from Luxembourg, Belgium, France and Switzerland. It is targeted at hospitals, homecare service providers, mutualities, government representatives and industry leaders from Luxembourg and Belgium.

The inaugural ceremony of Med-e-Tel 2010 on April 14th will be held in the presence of Mars Di Bartolomeo, Luxembourg Minister of Health, Prof. Yunkap Kwankam, Executive Director of the ISfTeH and Karl Brown, Associate Director of The Rockefeller Foundation. The ceremony will be followed by a tour of the exhibition and an opening session in which experts and thought leaders from the European Commission, International Council of Nurses, mHealth (Mobile Health) Initiative, Austrian Insitute of Technology, WorldVistA and Virtual Reality Medical Institute will provide a global update on Telemedicine and eHealth.

The three day Med-e-Tel conference program will include additional sessions and workshops on the topics of home care and assisted living, open source software in health care, elearning, mobile health, telecardiology, closing the health care gap in developing countries, and more.
