IRIS Hospital Network Chooses dbMotion to Improve Patient Care

dbMotionIRIS, the organizational network of Brussels' 5 public hospitals, and dbMotion announced the agreement for a major project to provide an interoperability platform for medical information sharing to the Brussels region.

The dbMotion™ Solution's flexible platform meets the needs of IRIS' clinicians for a portal enabling secure access to integrated patient information across its 11 sites. The result of having the patient's fully integrated medical record available to the clinician at the point of care will be to improve safety and provide better, quality care.

"This is a major milestone for healthcare in the group and allows IRIS to provide improved care throughout the care cycle." says Dirk Thielens, CEO, IRIS. "Being able to put our patients' well-being at the forefront of the enterprise is our primary goal and dbMotion offers us a proven solution that will enhance our ability to do so." IRIS chose dbMotion after a comprehensive search and in-depth evaluation of technology and functionality including live demonstrations of a system in production.

"Our hospitals are technologically advanced and offer state-of-the-art care. Enabling the ever-increasing amounts of information generated and stored in the diverse systems to now be securely accessed and viewed through a portal in a single, integrated fashion will give our caregivers a real advantage." says Francis Cammaerts, Chief Information Officer, IRIS.

dbMotion, a provider of healthcare information integration software for health information exchange and interoperability, has since 2001 provided solutions for sharing medical records among all actors involved in the healthcare delivery system: public and private providers, care networks, general practitioners and clinics. The dbMotion Solution enables the creation of an integrated patient record without replacing existing systems. dbMotion has received international recognition and multiple awards for its proven innovation in healthcare technology.

"We are excited to work with IRIS in fulfilling its vision of connected healthcare and supporting its commitment to care excellence," said Yuval Ofek, dbMotion's CEO. "Given the role that IRIS plays in healthcare in the Brussels region, and the role that Belgium plays as a model for the EU, this project will be a reference-point for health information exchange across the region and continent."
