NHS acute trusts in England will be stepping up delivery of new IT infrastructure and systems in the coming year, despite continued financial pressures, new research shows, with future IT investment becoming more patient-focused. 'The view from the shop floor' the latest report from EHI Intelligence, reveals that nearly 70% of acute trusts say their trust's main IT priority in the coming year is to deliver new infrastructure, up from just 40% last year.

EyeBrain, a company that develops brain function markers for neurological and psychiatric conditions, announces the launch of a new application to measure eye movement disorders in children when reading. This new medical software, known as "Reading Application", enables specialists to automatically and quickly assess eye movement parameters in their patients when reading and in particular pinpoint disorders affecting the control of both eyes.

NHS Fife is to extend its use of a solution from Patientrack from one ward to eight, helping to further improve patient safety. Patientrack's "always on" active safety and communication system helps clinical staff on wards quickly identity deteriorating patients and support intervention before patients suffer adverse events.

The Centre Hospitalier de Valenciennes won an award for the digitisation of its care services with the Cerner Millennium® solution portfolio. The Centre Hospitalier de Valenciennes is the second French organisation to be recognised by HIMSS Analytics Europe for the quality of its information system, six months after the Centre Hospitalier de Belfort-Montbéliard, the first French site to receive the certification.
